Headcanon/potential backstory for John Blake in comics? I’m talking about That One Reveal again.

In the early days of Batman and Robin, Dick saves Mr. and Mrs. Blake. They decide to name their unborn son Robin in honor of him. But then when Robin is still a baby Mrs. Blake is killed in a car accident and things get tough. Mr. Blake falls in with a bad crowd but manages to scrape along for several years until one night he’s killed over a gambling debt in front of Robin. Angry at the heroes he’d worshiped for not saving his father, Robin starts going by his middle name John. As he gets older John realizes that heroes can try but they can’t always save everyone (a big stepping stone to this is seeing the fake smile and realizing Batman=Bruce Wayne). He starts to understand, but he doesn’t go back to being Robin.

But then Shit Happens (TM) and Officer-then-Detective Blake ends up working closely with Batman over a period of time, leading him to getting over his issues and going by Robin again. Oh and he quits his GPD job and becomes an agent of Batman Inc. full time and is a total badass and becomes pals with Dick who jokes about his name and he and Tim are detective bros, “Lol Bruce thinks he’s so clever we both totes figured him out”, and Damian is all, “You helped to defeat my fake insane clone mother, I respect you,” and he becomes the newest member of the Inner Bat Circle.
